My Story

Hey friend, My name is Mariah. I am a coffee lovin, book reading, tomato plant growing, wife and momma in SoCal. I enjoy quiet walks on the beach, drinking a good cup of coffee, and being curled up with a great book. I actively seek moments of connection and authentic relationship with those I love.

But it hasn't always been this blissful (most days are not). I’ve been stuck, dissatisfied, overwhelmed and defeated. I have struggled to find purpose within myself, struggled to find direction for my life, struggled to feel connected to my husband and our daughter.

In our first year of marriage, I started grad school, we moved, we lost my dad, we miscarried our first child, and we got pregnant with our daughter. There was immense pain and deep joy in that first year. This is something I struggled to hold simultaneously. If you are struggling today, I want you to know, you can struggle and feel joy at the same time. You do not have to do life feeling alone.

I fully believe that we have been created to be in relationship with one another. Our God is a relational God, who desires for us to have a thriving relationship with Him and with others. Through research and personal experience, I have found that when we align and prioritize our relationships, we are able to thrive.

In Genesis, there is only one time where God said that something within creation was not good. It was when he saw that man was alone. He said it is not good for man to be alone. Jesus illustrated and modeled for us how to be in relationship with and how to cultivate healthy boundaries with others. I want to focus on one of the most important relationships you have, the relationship you have with your spouse. I want to empower you to connect deeply and have a marriage that thrives and flourishes.

This is not about just making it until death do you part. It is about having a marriage that is life-giving, encouraging, strong enough to weather the storms life will bring. By using Positive Psychology practices and pulling from experience, I help craft creative ways to deepen your connection with your spouse based on your unique strengths.

I am so glad you are here!

Why Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology was developed by American Psychologist, Dr. Martin Seligman. Positive Psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on building upon your strengths to cultivate a deeply purposeful and fulfilling life. Instead of solely focusing on fixing what is wrong, we will focus on building upon what is already within you. Through your coaching sessions with me, we will focus on building a more connected and meaningful relationship with yourself and with those who mean the most to you. As humans, you and I have a deep need for connection and belonging, when we do not experience that, we can often feel distanced, alone or frustrated. That doesn't have to last.
